Edison Mayoral Candidate Receives Kehilla Endorsement

On May 27, Edison mayoral candidate Mahesh Bhagia visited the home of Rabbi Israel Rivkin, the chairman of the Kehilla of Raritan Valley political advocacy organization, to thank him for the Kehilla’s endorsement in the Democratic Primary next week (Tues, June 8).

The Kehilla endorsement letter, dated April 26, stated: “In his previous capacity as Assistant to the Mayor, Mahesh Bhagia was a great friend to our community. He helped place several members of our community in key committee positions. This is in addition to helping many members of our community with their personal township requests.”

Bhagia is a small-business owner in the hotel industry, and previously worked for 15 years as a vice president of a Fortune 500 financial tech company. He has served as chairman of the Edison Democratic Organization (2020-present) and as a member of the Edison Township Finance Committee (2011-2013). His platform for Edison includes the following goals: a 0% tax increase in 2022; a competitive bidding process for any contract over $25,000; increased shared services; a fairer county tax burden; broader consultation with local leaders on economic development; and better representation of the observant Jewish community in Town Hall.
