ONE500, Teaneck’s New Residential Community, Now Fully Occupied

One of the newest structures on the Teaneck skyline is the ONE500 residential community located on the northwest corner of State Street and Teaneck Road and extending about half a block west on State Street. The Jewish Link has learned that the building is at its full occupancy of 228 units, with the last of the new residents scheduled to move in soon.

According to Stephanie Meyer, the ONE500 property manager, “The development is now fully occupied. There is still a very high level of interest, and a waitlist.”

At a recent “meet and greet” sponsored by the building, residents described the population mix as a cross-cultural spectrum, with a wide age range, that creates a “neighborhood” somewhat resembling the general diversity in Teaneck. The most predominant group is young couples, many of them Orthodox and many with one or two young children. The mix of dwelling options available at ONE500 are one- and two-bedroom units of varying sizes and floor plans, popular for this age group. However, according to one senior resident, “The smaller units are just perfect for what I wanted, and also a very comfortable walking distance from my children’s families who live nearby in Teaneck.”

During the meet and greet, The Jewish Link visited with a young couple holding their year-old baby. They remarked that one of their favorite times is meeting other young couples on Shabbat for an informal kiddush in the outdoor atrium when the weather is nice. A senior couple that had moved into the building just that week commented that they were thrilled to be close to their family, and to live in a place with the convenience and amenities that mean the most to them. They were impressed that the event had food and drinks that all residents could enjoy, including RCBC-certified items and mevushal wines.

The building boasts a Shabbat elevator and a designated staircase with 25-hour lighting for Shabbat and Yom Tov, because the other staircases have motion-activated lighting.

Another feature that has increasing importance, especially in recent weeks, is security. Meyer shared, “While safety can never be guaranteed, we do offer a 24-hour concierge service along with fob-activated locks at every point of entry. We offer indoor garage parking as well.” The Jewish Link also observed the monitored closed-circuit security cameras in these areas. Guests are required to check in and there is guest parking available with a permit.

For many residents, one of the features they like most is that ONE500 is a pet-friendly environment. Joyce Reichenberg and her dog, Cody, invited The Jewish Link to join them by introducing “the amazing dog-park community” located in the northern perimeter of the property. Reichenberg said that the Shabbat elevators are nice not only for people, but “especially to take our dogs out.” She, as other pet owners, also like the pet spa, a self-service space equipped for pet grooming.

Meyer noted, “ONE500 is fueled by our resident referral program along with the fact that many have family ties in Teaneck. Several residents are downsizing after selling their homes, wanting to be close to family nearby.

“We seem to be the perfect transition home for residents who are experiencing a major life event such as getting married or having a child. I can’t even count how many new marriages have happened and babies that have been born in the last year. One resident even proposed in their apartment right before moving in!”

Residents shared, “Everyone says ‘hi’ although they might not even know if you live here or not.” There is also a daily socially distanced Mincha/Maariv minyan in the atrium when the weather is good, or in the parking garage when the weather is inclement.

ONE500 is built on about 4.5 acres of land, and features state-of-the-art household technology. Its elegant interior design, with both private and public amenities, gives it the feel of a resort hotel.

On the practical side, each unit comes with full-size kitchen appliances and has its own laundry machines tucked neatly out of sight into a small utility closet. Many units have a balcony or a patio, and there are no dwelling units on the ground level. Resident public spaces include an outdoor atrium equipped with umbrella tables, electric grills, a covered fireplace, two giant-screen TVs, a wet bar and soft-turf space for kids, with sculpted landscaping of grasses, flowering bushes and small trees. Indoor spaces include a reading room, a recreation room with big screen TVs and a pool table, a private party room with a full functioning kitchen and hot box, and a comprehensively equipped fitness center.
