(Courtesy of Kaplen JCC on the Palisades) The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades will hold its 21st annual Play Fore! the Kids Golf, Tennis, Games and Entertainment event at Montammy Golf Club, Alpine, on Monday, August 2. Each year, this full day of fun raises vital funds for children with special needs, allowing the JCC to offer a wide range of meaningful programs that help them reach their highest potential.
The day begins with Men’s and Women’s Tennis, a 9-hole and 18-hole golf game that includes green fees, cart and caddy, on-course refreshments and lunch as part of the package. For those who are not golf or tennis enthusiasts, the day also features an afternoon of Mah Jongg or canasta, where participants can play and enjoy lunch with friends or come as a single participant. The festivities continue into the evening with a cocktail dinner reception (dietary laws observed) with top-flight drinks and lavish strolling diner, along with prizes, raffles, and exciting auctions featuring exclusive sporting event packages and one-of-a-kind dream destinations. New this year, to raise the bar on fun, the JCC is featuring comedian Johnny Lampert, as seen on Comedy Central.
“The goal of the day is to share in some light-hearted fun with friends and family and to connect with a core JCC mission at the same time – which is to do our part to ensure that all children with special needs have access to important life experiences that not only bring them new skills, but make them feel included as valuable members of our community,” explains JCC CEO Jordan Shenker. “Our annual golf and games event helps us succeed in this effort, as we continue to draw new participants and reach new goals each year.”
The JCC is now taking reservations for foursomes, games, and dinner reception at jccotp.org/playforethekids. A wide range of sponsorship opportunities are also available. Attending or sponsoring the event ensures that children and teens with special needs get to participate in JCC summer camps and programs where they can learn valuable life skills for more independent living. These programs are specifically geared for children with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual and developmental disabilities, neurological and cognitive impairments, communication and language differences and physical challenges. As a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, the JCC heavily relies on the community to offer support for those who need it most and to remain a leading resource to individuals in New Jersey.
