Earlier this week, I wrote a letter to the editor in which I said, “In response to the Kof-K quote (“Ben & Jerry’s New Flavor: BDS,” July 22, 2021): ‘still preparing a response, which they would have in the next several days,’ their response should be simple and not take any more time. Remove the Kof-K certification from all Ben & Jerry’s products. Sever your relationship and contract with Ben & Jerry’s.”

After just reading the Kof-K’s announcement (they will NOT be withdrawing their certification), I would like to amend my statement to add that I was disturbed by their wording: “Based on the advice of the Yesha Council the KOF-K will continue to fulfill its contractual obligations to Ben & Jerry’s.”

It should be noted that Glatt Express and several other kosher food stores did not have to seek advice from the Yesha Council to do the right thing.
