JKHA Students Enjoy an Activity-Packed Sukkot

The abridged week of Chol Hamoed at JKHA was filled with learning and programming that spread the joy of zman simchateinu. Students had opportunities to make the bracha on the lulav and to eat in the sukkah. Fourth graders learned about defining a kosher sukkah and created their own innovative sukkot in the MakerSpace. The interdisciplinary and experiential Moadim l’STEAMcha program for middle school spanned Judaic studies and general studies as students learned about Sukkot across the disciplines and built them utilizing their knowledge and MakerSpace materials.

Middle school students performed Sukkot chesed in commemoration of the yahrzeit of Joseph Kushner z”l through making Simchat Torah candy packages that were distributed along with food to those in need through Tomchei Shabbos. The Kushner Parents Activities Committee sponsored a pizza luncheon in the sukkah for middle school and JKHA faculty.

Highlights of Chol Hamoed were a lower school-wide flash mob dance that kicked off the theme of the year:“JKHA Builds,” and a festive concert for all of JKHA outside on the Gladys and Sam z”l Halpern Amphitheater featuring the acclaimed Joey Newcomb who entertained JKHA with his “Thank You Hashem” and other songs.
