Daily Mincha on the Garden State Parkway? Yes, It’s a Thing

Every year, as the days grow shorter, commuters heading home to Central New Jersey have a dilemma: Where will they daven mincha?

For many years, Lakewood resident Yisroel Herber has provided the answer. Travelers can find a minyan at the Cheesequake Rest Area, renamed this summer the Jon Bon Jovi Rest Area, on the Garden State Parkway. The minyanim run from Sukkot until around Chanukah time, when sunset comes earlier than rush hour.

This year there will be two minyanim available: one 45 minutes before sunset and the next 15 minutes before sunset. Both minyanim will take place at the end of the rest area’s parking lot, on the strip of grass between the parking lot and the Sunoco gas station.
