The 9-year-old Yavneh Academy third grader is an exceptional multi-sport athlete playing baseball, football and basketball. David led the 9U travel team in both hitting and pitching stats this past fall and led his flag football team to a victory in the first week by throwing for three touchdowns and running for one. More importantly, David is an excellent team player. He is always cheering his teammates on and is as happy if his teammates are doing well as he is if he does well himself.
David, happy birthday and congrats on being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week! Who is your role model and why?
My role model is my dad because he always works with me to get better at sports and in school and he helps me when I am having a hard time.
What is your favorite sport?
Baseball, because you play on a team and there are so many different strategies to use.
What is your pregame routine?
I play first base so I like to warm up the fielders.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
Coming back from a 9-2 deficit in last year’s TBO playoff game.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
David Wright because we have the same initials and he was a great baseball player on my favorite team—go Mets!
What is your favorite sports memory?
When I pitched three innings and struck out all nine batters.
What is your earliest sports memory?
Going to my first Mets game with my dad.
What is the weirdest thing that has happened to you while playing ball?
Hitting the baseball so hard the cover came off it.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?
Reading sports books and hanging out with my friends.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
That I am in The Jewish Link!
