Academies at GBDS Celebrates 36th Anniversary

On Wednesday November 3, Academies at GBDS celebrated its 36th day of school with a fall festival. A ruach filled tefillah featuring GBDS trivia started a great 36th day of the school’s 36th year. The gematria of 36 was a highlight of the special service led by Rabbi Micah Liben. With loud applause, students and staff met the school’s new mascot, Judah the Lion—a name the students voted for on Election Day 2021! Dr. Lawrence Berman, son of Gerrard Berman (for whom the school is named) was the honored guest of the morning.

The backyard of the school was the perfect backdrop to host the fall festival that included a petting zoo, pony rides, inflatable obstacle course, bounce house, balloon animals and craft stations. Juggling acts and a stilt walker added a magical touch to the afternoon. Ayal Prouser from Time Flies Circus and his team led interactive juggling workshops that allowed students to practice their newly acquired skill.

“We are ecstatic to be able to engage our school kehillah with activities that extend beyond the classroom. We were pleased to livestream the engaging activities so that friends and families could experience the spirit and fun of the day” said Lina Shuster, Academies at GBDS executive director. “We are committed to finding ways to provide our students with integrated experiences that enhance learning and highlight the incredible feeling of community our school is known for.”
