YESTERYEAR Photographs On Exhibit at Riverdale Y

(Courtesy of Riverdale Y) Gallery 18 is privileged to present the photographs of Jerry Bloedow at its last exhibit of 2021, entitled YESTERYEAR. A memorial exhibit, it will be displayed in virtual form only through the end of January at www.riverdaley.org/gallery18.

Bloedow, who lived in Marble Hill for 30 years, is known for his distinguished career as a film editor that included work on the PBS Special “The Other Side of the Moon.” He also taught at the School of Visual Arts, New York University’s School of Continuing Education and University of Poona in India.

These photographs have never been displayed publicly until now. Jerry Bloedow probably never considered photography as anything other than an avocation, given his long career as a movie editor and movie maker, and yet, his photographs are the work of a professional, highly engaging in their spontaneous capturing of children and adults, singly or in groups, playing or working or simply, as one of the photographs shows, looking on.

For any viewer interested in purchasing the photographs, private viewings can be arranged. In addition, the images (along with others not displayed in this exhibit) will be available in a 2022 calendar that can be purchased at $20 apiece.

Gallery 18 at Riverdale Y showcases the work of local and other artists representing a variety of media: oils, acrylics, pastels, photography, sculpture and pottery. All art (unless otherwise noted) is for sale with 20% of all proceeds going towards helping enhance cultural arts programming at the Y.
