Noam Knights Hockey Defeats WTA Warriors for First Win of the Season

(Noam Sports) Coming off two tough losses to start the season, the Noam Knights hockey team played host to the hot WTA Warriors, led by star goaltender Netanel Kalb, looking to extend their winning streak.

The Knights were hungry from the opening puck drop, and after a line change, Aaron Brothman worked the puck over to a cutting Jaden Leffel, who snapped home the opening score for a 1-0 lead. Brothman’s playmaking continued. Tani Shields worked the puck down to Brothman, and a quick centering pass to Joshy Eisner led to a goal and 2-0 Knights lead. After a few clears seemed to settle the game down, Joe Kaminetsky kept the puck in at the line, and this time Eisner returned the favor and Brothman scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season. With the first period winding down, Co-Captain Gavriel Saks worked the puck back to the point. Tani Shields’ blast from the point was deflected by Ryan Teller out of the air for a goal to give the Knights a commanding 4-0 lead after period one.

After an inspiring talk by Rabbi Rosalimsky between periods, the eighth grade tandem continued their playmaking, and Shields collected his third assist of the night, this time with Saks notching his first goal of the season. That goal seemed to wake up the Warrior offense, and a great play at the line led to a top corner blast, and WTA was on the board. The Noam squad took back control to close out the period, as Noah Weiss kept the pressure on from the point. Kalb stood on his head to keep the score at bay, and it was 5-1 going into the third. A Noam goal by David Kranzler followed by a second from Co-Captain Leffel closed out the scoring. Ian Mandelbaum finished a strong game in net for the 7-1 victory, and the Knights were finally in the win column.
