With his sights set on a 6th straight title, Coach Norm Blumenthal and the JV Storm opened the playoffs with a resounding 7 – 1 victory over the visiting Flatbush Falcons. The Storm were led by their ‘core four’ of Daniel Levy (’16), Yair Knoller (’16), Shua Naor (’16) and Ari Fuchs (’16) who collectively accounted for TABC’s first 5 goals. Daniel Levy (’16) netted goals on his first two shifts of the game, the first after the Storm opened the game with relentless pressure, simply overwhelming and exhausting the Flatbush defenders, and the second of a beautiful ricochet of an Ari Fuchs (’16) shot off Yair Knoller’s (’16) helmet. Then it was Shua Naor’s (’16) turn to net two goals, two blasts, the first of which came on the Power Play. The first period ended at 4-0, chasing the Flatbush goalie. Shua Beilin (’16) had a relatively light game in goal, with TABC stalwart team defense not allowing a shot until well into the second period. After Yair Knoller (’16) opened the second with his team leading 20th goal of the season, the game was all but done. Freshman Justin Goldman (’17) and Joshua Wertenteil (’17) scored their first ever playoff goals in the third wrapping up the 7-1 win. Next up for the JV Storm will be a semifinal home game against the winner of this coming Sunday’s game between DRS and SAR.
