Yeshivat Noam elementary school kicked off Rosh Chodesh with Hallel, T-shirts and a focus on shemitah. The students were engaged in an integrated unit of learning where studied planting in science, learned about farming and participated in a virtual hilchot shemitah unit with Rabbi Joel Cohen from Eretz Yisrael.
For the month of Shevet, tzedaka collected in the elementary school will be donated to support farmers in Israel through an organization called, Keren Hashviis. Yeshivat Noam hopes that through the tzedaka collected they will be able to buy a piece of a farm in Israel and participate in the mitzvah of shemitah.
