This week Moriah fifth grade students learned about glass artist Dale Chihuly and his work. Glass blowing is mesmerizing to watch and takes an incredible amount of skill to create. Before they started their lesson their art teacher took them students on a virtual tour of the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis (on the Smart Board) to explore the work of Dale Chihuly. The students created a radial symmetry design on transparency film. The students then used acrylic paint to add designs and patterns on the transparent film. The students were encouraged to create designs by alternating the use of cool colors and warm colors to make new ones. The more colors the better!
