Stroudsburg, PA—Being buried under four feet of snow this week did not stop the folks at Camp Dora Golding— the 89-year old, all-boys, Torah-strong environment summer camp in the Poconos—from preparing for a great summer season. With many new additions to programs and facilities, campers and staff alike have lots to look forward this summer, including a new after-hours roller hockey league for campers in the 7th – 9th grades. The camp’s involved and enthusiastic sports staff focuses on the use of leagues to increase friendships among the campers in different bunks. And it works. The new league gives campers an opportunity to hone their skating and stick handling skills on the modern, covered hockey rink. This new hockey league will complement the existing hockey activities allowing boys at every age and level to enjoy the hockey rink.
There are also going to be many opportunities to nourish the soul in the camp’s brand new, fully air-conditioned shul/beis midrash. Bigger and better than before, this new space will be ready and waiting to be filled by the sounds of learning and Tefilah.
The new head counselor is Rabbi A.C. Posner. He’s been camping for the last 22 summers, and, for the past 18 of those 22, he has been an integral member of the CDG family.
The often imitated but never duplicated Ya’alozu Wilderness Program is back by popular demand, under the new but familiar leadership of Rabbi Yossi Sirote. The program teaches an array of wilderness skills and boasts that the campers participating in the program will develop and strengthen their sense of responsibility and achdus, physical and mental endurance, teamwork and leadership qualities.
With sprawling 156 acres of camp ground, air conditioned bunks, zip line courses, archery, lighted courts and fields for night play, indoor gyms, and heated pools among many other amenities, Camp Dora Golding is the best camp in the Pocono mountains.
