Dor L’Dor to Give Virtual Tour Of Jewish Museum

The Dor L’Dor group at Congregation Ahavath Torah, Englewood, is excited to present a virtual Zoom tour of the exhibit “The Hare With Amber Eyes” now featured at the Jewish Museum in New York, on Wednesday, February 16 at 1 p.m. The tour will be led by one of the educators at the Jewish Museum.

This exhibition explores the rise to prominence of the Ephrussi family in the first half of the 19th century to the interwar years, and finally World War II, when the family lost its fortune and collection to Nazi looting.

“The Hare with Amber Eyes,” including artworks by Fragonard, Monet, Moreau and Renoir and family photos from their lives across four continents, examines the ways in which objects can function as storytellers, symbols of resilience, and monuments of a family legacy.

The exhibition’s centerpiece is the extraordinary collection of Japanese netsuke, miniature carved sculptures of the Edo Period (17th-19th centuries), hidden by a maid from German officials during World War II, and later returned to the family after the war and handed down to subsequent generations, serving as a connection between the past and the present.

Please visit www.ahavathtorah.org/dorldor  for the Zoom link info and dial-in information on the day of the event. There is no charge for this event. Donations to Dor L’Dor are always gratefully appreciated.
