Bat Sheva Kanelsky, ob”m, Remembered on 19th Yahrzeit

(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) On Yud Adar, at the weekly Thursday night Kollel at Bris Avrohom, many people joined to learn in memory of Bat Sheva ob”m Kanelsky. After learning, Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky shared how in Bat Sheva’s short life of only 65 days, she achieved more than some people accomplish in a lifetime.

In her merit, many brissim were performed, over 500 mezuzahs were affixed in homes and over 100 pairs of tefillin were purchased by people who undertook to put them on daily. Moreover, hundreds of women and girls began to light Shabbat candles, and thousands of lines of Tanya and mishnayos were learned in various yeshivos, many of which have been learned for the past 19 years in her memory. Bat Sheva was the catalyst, a moving vehicle, who inspired people to grow and perform more mitzvos, and that inspiration still lives on today.

Rabbi Kanelsky asked that all people who undertook to perform any mitzvah in Bat Sheva’s memory should continue to do so, and that will surely hasten the coming of Moshiach.

Rabbi Kanelsky also asked each person who attended the uplifting and moving evening to learn the ma’amar (Chassidic discourse) of V’ata Tetzaveh as a preparation for Yud Alef Nissan (the 120th birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe).

A full dinner, prepared by Shterney Kanelsky (with her sons’ assistance) was served along with lots of l’chaim.

May Bat Sheva’s neshama have an elevation and may we see the ultimate redemption speedily in our days.
