The Highland Park Police Department has worked closely with the NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, the mayor’s office, and houses of worship throughout the borough to respond to heightened concerns about security in the wake of the recent hostage crisis in the Colleyville, Texas synagogue. Youth/Community Policing Officer Brian O’Mara scheduled an Active Shooter Response Training for Houses of Worship workshop, led by NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness Trainer Ed Moore, at Congregation Ohav Emeth on Tuesday February 22, at 6:00 p.m. The event attracted representatives from synagogues and churches throughout the area, with over 100 people in attendance for the 90 minute presentation.
