The Moriah eighth grade girls basketball team have been riding high all season, finishing with 10 wins, no losses and cruising past their opposition in the quarterfinals. The team was prepped for their semifinal game against the Yavneh Redhawks. Yavneh started out strong, scoring the first basket. Moriah came back quickly and took an early lead which they continued to build upon for the rest of the game. The final score of the game was 69-28. Point guard Zoey Levy played a stellar game with 10 points, and many steals on defense. She had great control of the ball and was able to make a play everytime she brought the ball up. Izzy Nadritch was a scoring machine with 22 points. Evelyn Fried and Livi Solomon both played great offense, put up outstanding shots, and were the team leaders in 3 pointers. Sophie Csillag, Ally Weber, Nava Bousbib and Raelin Koslow also contributed by scoring points. Nessia Jacob, Charlotte Jacob and Kira Lowensteiner played great games, adding to the win. Yavneh put up a good fight led by Sarah Silver who scored 11 points, but that proved inadequate against the star-filled Moriah team. Both teams played a great game, but in the end Moriah came out on top. The undefeated Moriah Mountaineers will play in the championship game this week against Yeshivat Noam.
