In Parshat Tzav, part of Aaron and his sons’ inauguration was giving a korban (sacrifice) for sinning. Although this seems proper, when a person stops to think about it, it makes you realize that everyone makes mistakes. Aaron and his sons were of such high stature that when we see them giving a sin offering we grasp the idea that even leaders and more spiritual people make mistakes. Furthermore, this act was done publicly, at the entrance of the Mishkan, for everyone to see. It is done there to show that no one is perfect, and while kohanim give sin korbanot for the people, they are included in it as well. Life is not about being perfect, but rather about learning from your imperfections. Aaron and his sons help us realize that it is OK to admit that we were wrong. Mistakes happen; it is how you choose to correct them that matters.
