Highlights From Purim At Synagogue of the Suburban Torah Center

(Courtesy of SSTC) A mechanical bull ride, dunk tank and a massive Purim seudah were just some of the highlights as members of Suburban Torah celebrated together after two years of COVID restrictions.

The festivities began on Purim evening with a lively illustrated Megillah reading. A video screen set up in front of the room kept the youngest members quiet and engaged as images from Megillat Esther were shown, allowing everyone to fulfill the mitzvah of hearing every word of the Megillah reading.

After the Megillah, families enjoyed the return of the annual Purim carnival. This year’s event included a dunk tank that was set up outside the building. Among those who took a turn getting dunked were the synagogue’s president Avi Steiner and Rabbi James Proops.

Purim day ushered in what many are hoping will be a new SSTC tradition, a communal Purim seudah that was attended by more than 200 people of all ages. The seudah included a special program for kids.

Plans are currently underway for Pesach programs and an adult date night that will explore the themes of Havdala and the months of Adar and Nisan. Learn more at SuburbanTorah.org.
