The Adath Israel Youth Department launched their pre-Pesach series of events with a Chocolate Seder for the 3-5-year-old age groups. Youth Directors Yoni and Alyssa Sheer created a great Seder program which included cups of chocolate milk, chocolate dipped strawberries for karpas, bittersweet “marror” chocolate, and of course building your own S’mores “Korach” sandwich, as well as so many other delicious treats.
During Shulchan Orech, the children enjoyed a chocolate Leben “meal” while they learned about the story of Pesach. The Seder concluded with finding the afikoman: chocolate eggs and lots of chocolaty faces as the kids danced to Joey Newcomb’s “Thank You Hashem” during Hallel. All in all, it was a sweet event, and the children were involved in learning about the Seder and Pesach.
The Youth Department continues with more pre-Pesach programming next week where the first through fourth graders of our shul will enjoy a Pesach-themed escape room allowing them to showcase their Pesach knowledge through puzzles and riddles. Middle schoolers and high schoolers will have a chance to engage in special Shabbat Hagadol shiurim and onegs to prepare for the excitement of the upcoming chag.
Lastly, the unity of our community will be brought to each individual family Seder, with the return of the popular “Pesach in a Bag,” a special bag full of fun items to enhance our Pesach Seders.
Pesach season is in full swing here in Elizabeth/Hillside which will surely be one to remember!
