Fleetwood Synagogue Hosts Shabbat HaGadol Drasha And Communal Lunch

(Courtesy of Fleetwood Synagogue) Fleetwood Synagogue joyously hosted a communal meal in honor of Shabbat HaGadol.

The day began with a special annual Shabbat HaGadol drasha by Rabbi Daniel Rosenfelt. This year’s topic explored why Shabbat HaGadol is always on Shabbat before Pesach, contrasting with other Jewish holidays celebrated on specific dates. Everyone was then invited to the shul’s social hall for lunch together. The tables were filled with cholents, salads, various kugels, mini hot dogs, and fruit and pastries for dessert. All the food was prepared in-house by the shul’s kitchen committee, a dedicated group of congregants who prepare and organize kiddushes and communal meals. Fleetwood Synagogue also hosts communal meals on Simchat Torah, Shavuot and Chanukah. Each meal is a wonderful opportunity to shmooze and enjoy the company of all in the community.

Fleetwood is a growing Modern Orthodox community in Southern Westchester, just north of New York City. Located walking distance from the Metro-North train, just 30 minutes to midtown, Fleetwood is an affordable neighborhood equidistant from kosher food and amenities in Riverdale and New Rochelle.
