On Tuesday night, March 18, 2014 over 500 guests are expected to celebrate Yeshivat Noam’s bar mitzvah year at the Annual Dinner. According to Dov Adler, the President of the Board of Trustees, “Yeshivat Noam’s growth from a start-up school with 57 students to a sophisticated, premier day school with 826 students in just 13 years is a huge achievement. Our Dinner is a great place to celebrate our success, raise funds for our school, and pay tribute to our deserving honorees.”
The funds raised are dedicated to support the cost of running a yeshiva day school and the donors have been given the opportunity to direct their gifts to either assist scholarship families, build curriculum, expand technology, provide professional development or support the general operating budget of Yeshivat Noam which is approximately 12 million dollars.
Yeshivat Noam will pay tribute to extraordinary honorees at the Annual Dinner: Guest of Honor- Becky and Avi Katz, Community Service Award to Renee and Murray Schneier and the Faculty Recognition Award will be awarded to Mrs. Linda Stock.
Becky and Avi Katz epitomize dedication and commitment to Jewish education and Jewish continuity. Their leadership and involvement at Yeshivat Noam, as well as many other important organizations including Yeshiva University, the Orthodox Union, and Congregation Keter Torah, is filled with passion and genuine interest in making a measurable and meaningful impact on the Jewish community. Becky has been teaching math at Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls and brings her experience and knowledge about education into each of her roles as a lay leader at Yeshivat Noam. Over the past 10 years of active involvement, Becky has served in many roles including Co-president of the Education Committee, member of the Board of Trustees and leader on the search committees for several key administrative positions. Avi works actively for Yeshivat Noam serving as a behind the scenes advisor to Rabbi Hagler and School Presidium in areas of strategic planning and creating a financially sustainable future for Yeshivat Noam. Together Becky and Avi made a transformative gift to name the Middle School building in memory of Frida and Munysz Grossman, z’l, which enabled Yeshivat Noam to build the Middle School. Most recently, Becky and Avi made a $1 million multi-year commitment to create “The Educational Technology and Innovation Program.”
Renee and Murray Schneier have been involved in school leadership since the inception of Yeshviat Noam. Renee has dedicated her time, talent and creativity to contribute to countless events including the Annual Dinner and the Israel Day Parade. Renee also served on many committees and as a board member and past president of the Yeshivat Noam Parents Association. Murray, a former member of the Board of Trustees, is the Chair of the Scholarship Committee. In this capacity, Murray leads this committee to balance confidentiality, sensitivity and fairness in the distribution of financial support to families in need. Murray has also served as legal counsel over the years and represented the school in the acquisition of the Paramus campus and the various financings of the school debt.
Mrs. Linda Stock, who is celebrating her 10th year as the Assistant Principal of the Elementary School at Yeshivat Noam, is known for her professionalism, warmth, and nurturing personality. With a BA in Elementary Education from Stern College and an MS in Curriculum Development and Supervision from The College of New Rochelle, Mrs. Stock has been working in education her whole life, including over 20 years of teaching and administrative experience in both Early Childhood and Elementary School classrooms. At Yeshivat Noam, Mrs. Stock provides support and guidance to teachers, maintains close relationships with students, and continuously pursues opportunities to strengthen the guiding principles of academic excellence and commitment to Jewish education.
Yeshivat Noam’s Annual Campaign Chairs are Saul Stepner, Abie Cohen, and Dovid Warshawsky and the Dinner Chairs are Hadassah Goldberg and Tova Gerson. Although the Dinner is the largest fundraiser on the annual calendar, Yeshivat Noam has two additional upcoming events to raise funds for the school. The Inaugural “Color Me Fun” Run will be held Monday morning, May 26th at 9 a.m. and the 9th Annual Golf & Tennis Outing is scheduled for July 7th at, White Beeches in Haworth, NJ.
