(Courtesy of Lamdeinu) On Thursday May 5, Lamdeinu will offer a special Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration for women in honor of Israel’s 74th anniversary. The program will begin at 9 a.m. with tefillah and Hallel chagigit led by Dr. Ann Shinnar. At 10:30 a.m. shirei Eretz Yisrael will be sung and led by professional artist Dr. Marsha Edelman. Dr. Edelman will provide context for each song, creating a musical journey through the history of Medinat Yisrael. The shirah will be followed by the presentation of two Israeli movies depicting a slice of life in modern day Israel. A discussion led by Alisa Danon Kaplan will follow the film presentation. The celebration will be available on Zoom and is free and open to all women. Advance registration is requested.
Lamdeinu also begins a new pre-Shavuot series on Monday May 2, at 1 p.m. Rabbi Yitzchak Twersky will discuss, “Preparing for the Festival of Revelation: The Holiday of Shavuot” on May 2, 9, 16 and 23. This series will provide a guided tour of the period leading up to Shavuot as well as Shavuot itself, with unique and original insights into these crucial days.
