(Courtesy of YCT) Yeshivat Chovevei Torah (YCT) announced a $1 million gift from Micah Philanthropies. Micah Philanthropies, founded by Ann and Jeremy Pava and based in West Hartford, Connecticut, is devoted to making traditional Judaism relevant. The Pavas noted: “We are inspired by YCT and Rabbi Dov Linzer’s vision for a more relevant, accessible and meaningful approach to traditional Judaism. The Yeshiva’s leadership and graduates have a significant role to play in the Jewish community and beyond, sharing the beauty of Modern Orthodoxy and its synthesis of modernity and tradition. We are thrilled to support this vision and their efforts towards building a more vibrant and growing Jewish community.”

Part of this funding has been allocated to launch the inaugural Zakkai Fellowship for Rabbinic Innovation at YCT. This fellowship supports the continued professional growth of alumni, with a particular emphasis on the development of entrepreneurial and innovation skills. Rabbi Linzer, YCT’s president and rosh hayeshiva and its Norman and Tova Bulow Chair, explained that the fellowship grew out of the Pavas’ desire to strengthen YCT’s alumni network, to support and spur innovation among its alumni, and—through these innovations—to broaden YCT’s impact and further its vision. He said: “We have been so blessed to have the support of Ann and Jeremy—and now, by extension, Micah Philanthropies. They are funders who believe in our mission and are eager to invest in it. They have become true partners in our work.”
