Teaneck—With the proliferation of kosher vendors in the Teaneck/Bergenfield community over the past year, the kosher consumer no longer needs to schlep to Monsey for a variety of affordable Pesach products.
Cedar Market has a coupon for a free pound of Galil Matzoh for every $50.00 spent at their store. In addition, Cedar Market announced that they will now accept manufacturer coupons.
Pathmark beat the pre-Pesach rush by having their Pesach shelves stocked before Purim had even arrived. They have a full variety of specialty Pesach goods, as well as some of their own America’s Choice brand manufactured as kosher for Pesach. They offer different sales each week, which can be found both online and in their weekly circular. As in past years, Pathmark continues to give away a free 5 lb. case of matzoh with every $50 purchase.
Grand & Essex has an entire menu of non-Gebrokts Pesach take-out items available for purchase. In addition, anyone who places an order with their butcher of $150 or more will be entered in a raffle to win 50% off their purchase.
Shop Rite keeps their prices “locked-in” at a low sale price for the Pesach shopping season. Like Pathmark, they have many of their own products made kosher for Pesach. Shop Rite gives away free matzoh as well, but with a different calculation: One free case of matzoh for every $100 accrued on Pesach items only. Spend $200, earn two five pound cases.
Glatt Express has a new promotion for their shoppers this Pesach. For every $100 spent, customers receive a free chicken. There is no limit to the amount of free chickens one can get.
Best Glatt is offering a 5% discount for all orders over $100. As always, in addition to RCBC certification, their meat has Beit Yosef certification too.
Food Showcase in Fair Lawn may not be as local for Teaneck-Bergenfield shoppers, but they have a Pesach promotion to offer as well. With every Pesach order over $75, customers will be entered into a raffle to win that order for free.
Even Costco looks to cater to the kosher consumer this time of year. They carry Kedem grape juice, fresh meat and chicken, shmura matzoh, as well as other snacks (chips, macaroons, jelly rings), which may vary between locations.
Best Glatt, Cedar Market, Grand & Essex, and Glatt Express have all turned to social media in order to promote their brands through facebook “like” contests. To stay on top of sales and contests, “like” these stores on their facebook page.
The savvy shopper can plan from week to week which stores to visit and stock up on those grocery items on sale, one week at a time. Some people, however, prefer the “one stop shop” approach, with the exception of stores that offer competitive prices on matzoh and meat and poultry sales.
Many shoppers feel that ShopRite provides the best venue for buying most items at a consistently reasonable price. “I may be spending a few dollars more, here and there,” said one shopper, “but overall I know I am getting a low price at Shop Rite.” Whether one chooses to shop at ShopRite, or any of the many other stores, in the area, the general consensus among consumers is that unless someone already has to stop in other communities for other reasons, there is no reason to look outside of local establishments to stock a Pesach kitchen. Teaneck has everything one needs to make Pesach, and at competitive prices, too.
If anyone has accumulated more free matzohs than they can eat in two, or even 12 sedarim, Tomchei Shabbos of Bergen County continues to collect matzoh. Please drop them off at the side entrance steps/side room of 421 Churchill Road, on the corner of Sussex, in Teaneck.
