BPY was rocking this past Tuesday as CMEK hosted a free basketball training session with Tamir Goodman. Tamir was in town from Ohio running a basketball clinic to demonstrate his Zone 190 Basketball Invention. Students Athletes and their parents from BPY, Yavneh, Noam, Moriah, RYNJ, and SSDS and surrounding Bergen County Schools had a wonderful night hearing Tamir’s story.
Goodman grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, in an Orthodox Jewish family with six brothers and two sisters. He began playing basketball at age 5, but he first garnered national attention as a junior in high school, averaging 35.4 points per game for the Talmudical Academy of Baltimore. He earned recognition in Sports Illustrated and was interviewed by ESPN, 60 Minutes, and Fox Sports. In 11th grade, he was ranked the 25th-best high school player in the country. He was dubbed the “Jewish Jordan.”
Every child participated in one of many cutting-edge basketball drills on the Zone 190. The highlights came when Simon Fischman and EJ Heumann (both Pre-K at Moriah) scored on the 10 foot hoops. Alex Zakheim, Jack Ruditzky, Ezra Silfen, and Gabe Sklar (Yavneh) all were very impressive in a shooting drill. Tzvi Motechin (RYNJ) executed his drill perfectly. Jordan Janowski (SSDS) was smooth on her passing off the Zone 190. The future BPY school team all attended the event together.
