On Friday, May 16 Bergen County executive Kathleen Donovan hosted the Annual Holocaust memorial event at the County’s executive headquarters, One Bergen County Plaza. Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky, Executive Director of Bris Avrohom, was the master of ceremonies as well as the keynote speaker. The County Executive issued a proclamation designating the Days of Remembrance to be the week of April 27th through May 4th, including the Day of Remembrance known as Yom HaShoah, April 28, 2014.
A Certificate of Commendation was presented by Sheriff Michael Saudino. David Ganz, Chairman of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, bestowed a Certificate of Commendation on behalf of the freeholders and also spoke at the commemoration. Second and third generation descendants of Holocaust survivors lit six candles as tribute to the six million Jews who were murdered.
