On June 6th, Bruriah Junior High Coordinator Mrs. Zehava Greenwald took the Bruriah 8th graders to the Elizabeth River Trail to do volunteer work with Groundwork Elizabeth. It was a wonderful opportunity to integrate classroom learning with daily living as well a chance to give back to our community and environment. The experience was very valuable!
After learning Parshas Kedoshim which contains many mitzvos, the students voted on suggestions for a class project that they could undertake in connection with a mitzva לפני עור לא תתן מכשול. The top one came to Ava Weitz’s suggestion of beautifying a park. Mrs. Greenwald was in touch with Jonathan Philips from the Elizabeth Park System and arranged to help cleanup at the running trail.
