Elizabeth—Jewish Educational Center has embarked on an exciting new direction and is pleased to announce that Fair Lawn resident Andrew Schultz is its new Director of Institutional Advancement.
“It is a pleasure to welcome Andrew Schultz into the JEC family,” said Rav Elazar Mayer Teitz, Dean of the JEC. “Personally and professionally, he possesses the qualities needed for success in the difficult task of ensuring that the JEC has the wherewithal to accomplish its spiritual and academic goals.”
Schultz will be tasked with developing areas that have been largely untapped in recent years. With 13 years of communal experience, most recently as Executive Director of Community Alliance for Jewish-Affiliated Cemeteries (CAJAC), Andy brings a keen expertise in the areas of donor cultivation and stewardship, securing grants and sponsorships, and dealing with benefactors—current, potential, and lapsed, to ensure that their experience is always meaningful.
Rabbi Eliyahu Teitz, Associate Dean of JEC said, “Andy joins our senior administrative team at a pivotal moment, as we embark on innovative curriculum development and growth. His sincerity and commitment to Jewish education and continuity are obvious, and are punctuated by his bright and engaging personality, which make him an excellent fit within our organization.”
Schultz’s objectives at JEC include increasing the number of new donors, including those alumni who have yet to make a charitable commitment to the JEC. They are a key component to successful fundraising.
Schultz is no stranger to the school’s broad alumni base, which includes the Yeshiva of Elizabeth, Rav Teitz Mesivta Academy, and Bruriah High School. “Growing up, many of my friends were students at the JEC,” he said. “Today, many of those same individuals are professionally successful, committed to halachic observance, and nourishing strong Jewish values in their own families.”
Schultz is committed to communal causes and has both served on chevrot kadisha and officiated at the funerals of indigent Jews who, in many cases, were bereft of kin.
Schultz and his wife Jessica are raising three sons (Ari, Coby, and Rafi). He is an avid sports fan, loves to work out, and enjoys listening to cantorial music.
