Sting Sports Update
In a back and forth game until late in the 3rd period, the JV boys hockey team was able to edge Frisch 5-3.
It was a career night for Freshman Gordie Kolb as he carried the team on his back scoring 4 goals. Gordie scored to give SAR a lead in the first period, but Frisch was able to tie it up heading into the second period. Midway through the second period, Gordie scored again giving SAR a 2-1 lead. However, Frisch answered back again with a goal of its own to send the game into the 3rd period tied at 2. Yehuda Brinn, a sophomore at Frisch, gave Frisch a 3-2 lead with eight minutes to go in the 3rd period. SAR was dependent on Kolb all night and he came through once again to tie the game at 3, earning a hat trick.
With just over 4:30 left in the game, Sophomore Solomon Freilich faked a forehand and went backhand to beat the Frisch goalie top shelf, giving SAR a 4-3 lead. Ten seconds later, Gordie Kolb split through the defense and scored his 4th and final goal of the night to give SAR a comfortable 5-3 lead with 4:22 remaining in the game. Strong play came from Adam Weiss on defense to help preserve the 5-3 lead.
