We thank the Orthodox Union for saying [stating the obvious] “We cannot countenance a response to terror [substitute any act you do not like] that resorts to wholesale demonization [of Muslims, Ashkenazim, Sephardim, Ethiopians, Jews from other streams of Judaism, or other ethnic groups and religions] advocates for the collective punishment of Israeli Arabs [or any group, including other Jews, Blacks, Latinos, illegal immigrants, etc.] or calls for the destruction or dismantling [or defacement] of Muslim holy places [and any schools of different streams of Judaism or other religions, synagogues, churches, cemeteries and so forth]. Such rhetoric is anathema to the Jewish religious tradition and has no place in civil society. Such rhetoric is wrong and must be repudiated, whether it is voiced by lay leaders, community leaders, or rabbis.”
