Queens Jewish Link Marked Third Anniversary on Jan. 14

The newspaper that united the Torah-observant communities of Queens marked its third anniversary on Jan. 14th with a business networking dinner at the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates. Speaking before a crowd of 200, Queens Borough President Melinda Katz honored the newspaper’s publisher, Yaakov Serle, and Senior Consultant Yaniv Meirov for their efforts in expanding the newspaper’s advertiser base and coverage.

“The newspaper reaches out to people that I care deeply about,” said Katz. “At a time when information is so key, it’s good to know that there is a newspaper that you can read on Shabbat; information on our neighborhoods is there.”

Katz shared the dais with her elected colleagues, State Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr, Assembly Members Michael Simanowitz, Nily Rozic, and David Weprin, and City Council Members Mark Weprin and Rory Lancman.

Billed as a networking event for advertisers, the entrepreneurs present represented a variety of professions, including elder law, bookkeeping, tutoring, a public affairs consultant, mold elimination, real estate sales, graphic design, jewelry sales, life coach, and online marketing. Local community institutions were represented by Linda Spiegel for the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rabbi Hayim Schwartz for the Rabbinical Seminary of America, and Rabbi Yechiel Nakdimen of Queens Hatzolah. Shlomo Steinman of Jewish Business Development (JBD) emceed the event, providing an introduction to his group, which organizes a business-to-business meeting every month for Jewish entrepreneurs to network over a dinner.
