Parsha Ki Tisa/ March 7, Congregation AABJ&D in West Orange will host scholar-in-residence Rabbi Menachem Penner. He will speak after Kiddush on Shabbat morning on the topic of Preparing Today for the Jewish Community of Tomorrow, and during seudah shlishit on Haftarat Ki Tisa: The Most Exciting Story in Tanakh. Rabbi Mark Smilowitz will be speaking at 4:15 p.m., On Taxes and Footmen: Two Types Of Jewish Generosity, followed by mincha at 5:15 p.m. Rabbi Menachem Penner is the Max and Marion Grill Dean of the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary at Yeshiva University and the Men’s Undergraduate Torah Studies programs at Yeshiva University. Rabbi Penner also serves as the spiritual leader of the Young Israel of Holliswood in Queens. Rabbi Penner will join the shul in conjunction with the RIETS Shabbaton. The weekend is dedicated by the Smilowitz family in commemoration of Herb Smilowitz’s first Yahrzeit. Tribute will be paid to Herb Smilowitz z”l at the RIETS Dinner on Sunday, 3/8.
