(Courtesy of Consortium of Jewish Day Schools) In July of 2017 the Consortium of Jewish Day Schools (CoJDS) hosted their annual summer Think Tank for school administrators with a theme of “Raising the Bar” on professional practice in Jewish education. Attracting more than 150 principals and heads of school from across North America, the two-day conference was highlighted by Malachi Pancoast, aka “The Breakthrough Coach,” whose keynote session “How to Work Less, Produce More, and Still Get the Job Done” left the audience empowered to work more efficiently, enjoy better use of their staff and spend more time in the classrooms for better performance. Rabbi Zev Goldman, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Day School of Las Vegas, called the session “mind blowing,” stating “the presentation challenged my whole modus operandi” and its impact has “already shown itself.”
Mr. Pancoast has been working with instructional leaders since 1998 and founded his consulting firm, The Breakthrough Coach, in 2001. His trademarked breakthrough system seeks to help educators increase their students’ achievements, their staff ’s satisfaction and their general productivity as school leaders. Pancoast’s leadership strategies include everything from how school leaders need to view themselves as managers as opposed to technicians, to how to organize an office for maximum productivity. Rabbi Nachum Wachtel, principal of the lower school at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey (RYNJ) said, “My office has always been organized and neat; however, Mr. Pancoast inspired me to make it pristine.”
Based on the tremendous feedback from that session the CoJDS is pleased to offer another opportunity for school administrators to learn from Mr. Pancoast. On May 2, RYNJ will host a regional Pancoast training, and school leaders can expect to learn proven strategies to improve their functioning as school executives. According to Pancoast, principals will experience a “breakthrough,” which he terms as a significant increase in results in a relatively short period of time that would be able to sustain itself at the new level. His approach will teach participants to find maximum efficiency in their use of time and to get out of their office and into the school hallways and classrooms for increased face time with staff and students.
Rabbi Wachtel continued, “Having participated in his July 2017 session at CoJDS and seeing the value that he brings, we are thrilled to welcome Mr. Pancoast to our school and to make his wisdom available to the greater Jewish education community.”
The Consortium of Jewish Day Schools is dedicated to the empowerment, development and improvement of Jewish day schools across North America, promoting best practices and using traditional Torah values as our guide. Established in 2002 as a collaborative union among day schools principals, CoJDS today encompasses educators from many schools across the US and Canada, providing a powerful forum for continuous collaboration towards the realization of mutual goals, training programs and events.
