In the August 24, 2023 edition of The Jewish Link, in the article on kidney donation (“Renewal Celebrates 1000th Kidney Donation”), an inaccurate figure is stated.
It is stated that 0.02% of the American population are Orthodox Jews. The correct figure is 0.2%. According to generally accepted figures, the U.S. population is 340 million, the American Jewish population is 7.5 million, and 10% of American Jews are Orthodox, or. 75 million. This gives a figure slightly more than 0.2%, not the 0.02% cited in the article.
As a math teacher, I watch for inaccurate use of percentages.
