A Heartfelt Plea to Save a Young Woman’s Life

A close family friend and young member of a community close to our hearts suffers from kidney failure and must have a kidney transplant, blood type A or O.

Our family friend is associated with internationally renowned transplant centers. The medical teams at these centers strongly believe a kidney transplant will not only save her life and make daily eight-hour sessions of peritoneal dialysis and weekly emergency visits unnecessary, but will also place her on a stabilizing trajectory to have a normal life, marry and have a family.

After exhausting her options for finding a donor among her family members, she turned to an organization of volunteers called Renewal that is involved in making matches for kidney transplants, and is also involved with both the donor and the recipient of the kidney, including reimbursement for any potential loss of earnings and expenses of the donor.

My brother, HaRav HaGaon Rav Dovid Feinstein, shlita, rosh yeshiva of Mesivtha Tifereth Jerusalem, and I join in writing this appeal letter to the world at large. This family has been osek b’tzarchei tzibbur for many years and is beloved and considered ovdei l’sheim shamayim by their community.

To show his commitment, her father, who is not a match for his daughter, has agreed to be part of a kidney swap arrangement to try to save someone else’s life.

To learn how you can save this bas Yisrael’s life, or for more information about kidney donation, call Renewal at 718-431-9831, email [email protected] or go to their website at www.renewal.org. All inquiries are confidential and without obligation.

Whoever is able to save this young woman’s life should be zoche to all the brachot of the Torah.
