A Heartwarming Read That Reminds Us to Do Chesed

I read, with great enjoyment, Pearl Markovitz’s article “Learning to Be ‘Observant Jews’ By Seizing the Moment to Do Chesed” (June 5, 2025) where she reviewed the book, “Kan Tzipor 2: Life’s Special Moments” by Stephen J. Savitsky. I have known Mr. Savitsky for many years through his son, Avi, a contemporary of mine. I can attest to his devotion to the Jewish community, his Torah ideals and his kindness. “Kan Tzipor” captures these qualities, and is a wonderful read, which I suggest to people of all ages. It is both informative as well as educational. Most importantly, it demonstrates that we all, at least some time in our lives, have come across those moments where an act of chesed is placed before you, but you must seize the moment or you may never have the chance to complete the act. As such, I highly recommend this great book.
