A Historic Turnout—And the Work Ahead

This week, we witnessed the growing Jewish mobilization across New Jersey.

From Bergen County to Lakewood, we experienced record voter turnout in the primary election from our community.

But let’s be clear: We are a minority group. Turning out in high numbers is critical—but it’s not enough on its own. We need to consistently punch above our weight, and that means this is just the beginning. We must keep growing, sharpening our efforts, and building coalitions with other communities who share our values and priorities.

In a time of growing antisemitism and heightened concern for our community, it is a powerful reminder that this rising wave of Jewish engagement cannot be optional—not just for our schools, but for all families across the state.

Over the past few years, we’ve laid strong groundwork—rabbis, school leaders and parents coming together like never before. If we want lasting representation and meaningful change, we need to double down—again and again.

And the work doesn’t stop at the ballot box. Right now, the New Jersey state budget is being finalized in Trenton, with key decisions ahead on funding for nonpublic schools, for nursing, STEM, special services and more. If we want a seat at the table, we have to show up—in numbers and in unity.

Let’s take pride in how far we’ve come—and stay focused on the work ahead. Together, and in partnership with others, we can continue building a stronger, more engaged future for our schools and our communities.
