Bruriah High School always runs an exceptional annual Yom Hazikaron program for its students and, despite social distancing, this year was no exception. The programming began in the morning with an inspirational video about soldiers who gave up their lives for Israel. Learning about the sacrifices of these soldiers as individuals really gave students a deeper understanding of Yom Hazikaron. Later in the day, Bruriah students were fortunate to listen to Stephen Flatow speak about his perspective on the day. By describing the life of his daughter who was murdered in a terrorist attack while riding a bus in Israel, he inspired and even interacted with students during a Q&A session. The programming culminated at night with a heartwarming kumzitz over Zoom. Despite the difficult current circumstances and altered mode of learning, Bruriah created an amazing Yom Hazikaron that gave real meaning to the day for all Bruriah students.
