Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

All of us face challenges in our lives; some suffer greatly. Many have had to use creativity and strength from Hashem to solve problems, during which time it was too difficult to be light and bring humor into our days. Now we are all together, while some are physically apart, dealing with the coronavirus pandemic and trying to do as well as we can during this outbreak. With emunah and bitachon we must believe in ratzon Hashem and try to be as positive as possible!

The Midrash cites 10 songs in our history, the 10th song will be the Shir Chadash, The New Song at the time of our redemption. Another song was by Miriam, who created the Shirat Hayam at the crossing of the Sea: “Miriam the Prophetess…took the tambourine in her hand; and all the women followed her with tambourines and dances. And Miriam called to them: Sing to Hashem” Shmot 15:20-21. Miriam used her perseverance and sang for the hope of redemption.

In today’s crisis we see a lot of creativity in everyone’s attempt to endure coronavirus. Scientists and doctors racing for cures and therapies, government and businesses doing their best. Friends and family using Zoom, working at home, sending jokes, sharing shiurim and performances. In the visual arts many are drawing and painting. Animal adoptions are increasing! In this humor (pun intended) I submit my poem:

Corona, Corona,

Would you mind if I phone ya?

We’re gonna be stuck inside,

But it’s a very nice place to hide.

Corona, Corona,

Is it in your Zona?

COVID-19 we know what it means,

What we must do is quarantine!

If I would have been a little wiser,

I would have bought more sanitizer!

Wish that I could eat some more,

But I can’t get a delivery from the store!

Can’t wait for matzah so very thin,

Under my door it’s so easy to slip in!

Corona, Corona,

We don’t have to be alona,

Let’s make a date to speak on Zoom,

I’ll be waiting in my room!

May we all be well and celebrate simchas!
