(Congregation of Congregation Shaare Tefillah) The men’s club at Congregation Shaare Tefillah organized an array of pre-Pesach activities last weekend. On Thursday evening, over 20 men and women gathered at Hackensack Brewing Company for a night out to enjoy some very chametz sub sandwiches by Chickies and malted beverages. A fun and relaxing time was had by all.
On Sunday morning, the men’s club hosted two spiritually cleansing events at the shul. There was a tallit dry-cleaning dropoff where men could drop off their tallitot to have them look fresh and clean in time for Pesach. The shul was also honored to host Rabbi Yitzchok Weinberger, sofer stamm from the Center for Jewish Identity who, along with a partner sofer, conducted checks of the placement and tightness of tefillin, as well as examinations of the batim and retzuot. Many congregants expressed their appreciation to Rabbi Weinberger for providing such a great service to the shul. Although as of press time, there were no reports of chametz found in any of the tefillin batim, it was a great way to head into Pesach with a clean and kosher slate.
