This past Friday night, December 1, leaders from the Bergenfield/Teaneck communities met at the home of IDF Lieutenant Rabbi Dr. Yosef Glassman and family for a tish without words. The event, coordinated by Lev V’Nefesh, Lev L’Daas and Hadarta.org, was designed to include only brachot and niggunim in order to actuate be”H the pidyon shvuiim, release, of Jews in Gaza. The date corresponded to the anniversary of the release of the Baal HaTanya from Russian prison for the “crime” of teaching Chasidut. In the silence of candlelight, those who participated remained speechless for over an hour as a way of connection to fellow Jews who may also be spending Shabbos silent and in the dark.
