I first met Ari Weisbrot in the context of a litigation. Yet despite the adversarial context, I immediately noticed Ari’s wisdom, wit and hilarious sense of humor. As the case progressed, I came to know Ari well and trust his advice in navigating both the legal and human aspects of the process.

At the Organization for the Resolution of Agunot (ORA), we receive many requests for pro bono legal services, many of which are difficult to fulfill due to the small supply and overwhelming demand. This is particularly true in New Jersey, where free legal services are limited. Ari was one of the attorneys we would reach out to regularly to help agunot, and despite his busy practice and schedule, he always said yes. Even in the most difficult circumstances, he would find a way to move things forward and serve as a source of strength and support to his clients. We were so lucky to know him, and his death leaves an enormous void, especially for the most vulnerable among us.
