The Yavneh Academy debate team had great success this week. At the third competition of the year, held at the Yeshiva of Central Queens, Yavneh debaters won the award for first place school overall. Students put in tremendous amounts of research on the topic of the rights of schools to search backpacks and lockers; they presented both sides of the argument.

Yavneh students attained various honors: Leora Dallas (2nd place overall speaker and 1st place team), Miriam Fisch, Hayley Greene (1st place overall speaker and 2nd place team), Kineret Leben, Rebecca Metzman, Sarah Rosenfeld (2nd place team), Chloe Schreiber (3rd place overall speaker and 1st place team) and Bruria Spraragen. This was Yavneh’s second straight first place school finish.
