ABA Group Practice Plus Offers Comprehensive Services for ASD

ABA Group Practice Plus, an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) evaluation practice established in 1995, works with clients of all ages who are diagnosed with disorders including ASD, ADHD, behavioral, motor, attentional, speech/language and sensory integration difficulties. Providing a wide range of therapeutic services, ABA Group Practice Plus aims to help each client live their most successful life.

Dr. Ellie Maler and her highly qualified staff believe in an integrative approach to helping each client. The process begins with a thorough assessment conducted by a behavioral analyst who will determine the best form of intervention. Once the proper program is developed, improvement is tracked through data analysis, allowing behavior analysts to tweak the approach as needed. Analysts come to the home on a weekly basis to review progress and ensure that the techniques being applied are effective. Clients are offered speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy as needed.

After a diagnosis has been obtained, insurance companies are authorized to cover a certain amount of intervention, typically between 20 and 30 hours a week. In many cases, this allows for four hours of therapy per day, during which therapists work with clients to foster typical development.

“The objective is to help children join mainstream society and excel at basic life skills,” said Dr. Maler. “The results are astounding and progress is noticeable in a short amount of time after therapy begins.”

Clinically, the benefits therapists offer clients are immeasurable, said Dr. Maler. Furthermore, for families who are helping a child deal with certain challenges, the respite provided to handle other aspects of life is extremely helpful as well. Many parents view those four hours that a therapist is on hand as an opportunity to focus on things that might otherwise be neglected, she added.

According to Dr. Maler, they have devised a program that will successfully work for anyone, regardless of their type or level of disability. Whether a client has severe deficiencies or simply requires a minimal amount of intervention, ABA analysts will customize a tactical plan. Dr. Maler is happy to report that most of her clients are successful in mainstream schools, which is, of course, the ultimate goal.

Through a comprehensive team approach, ABA Group Practice Plus makes sure that clients’ needs are met at the highest level. Therapists generally work with clients in-home, believing that progress is most likely to occur in an environment that is conducive and comfortable.
