Academies at GBDS Fourth Grade Marks New Milestone

On Motzei Shabbat, the fourth grade of Academies at GBDS held its first in-person Havdala ceremony of this school year. The weather was perfect and students, teachers, staff and families felt the joy of togetherness that was so missed since COVID started. Students worked hard to prepare for the ceremony. They learned about the importance of the Havdala and separating the holy day of Shabbat from the rest of the week. They created their own Havdala sets, which includes the kiddush cup, the spice box and the Havdala candle. Students learned the songs and rehearsed the play, as well as decorated their own custom T-shirts. Kitah dalet showed off their acting and performing skills with a funny and engaging skit about life of Jews in the Eastern Europe in the early 1900s. Hebrew fluency was evident through the sophisticated dialogues of the skit. Parents, siblings and grandparents applauded the incredible performance and kvelled with joy.
