On November 11, students and staff marked Veterans Day and paid tribute to those who have served our country. The school welcomed Dr. Benjamin and Mrs. Kropsky for a ruach-filled Shacharit service, after which Dr. Kropsky, a Vietnam War veteran, shared his story and spoke about Jewish soldiers serving in the military. The school’s very own Mrs. Bloomberg shared the story of her father, Second Lieutenant Al Gayer, a World War II veteran and recipient of a Purple Heart medal. Most students and teachers have never seen this rare medal, which we viewed in its original case and with original paperwork. The entire kehillah dressed in red, white and blue and had Veterans Day in-class activities and lessons continued throughout the day.
