An active shooter was reported at American Dream Mall in East Rutherford on Thursday evening, April 7, according to local reports. One  victim was reported to have been shot twice in the chest, but was only injured, and ran for help. The mall’s medical service on-site responded, and as of 6:20pm, New Jersey State Police arrived to lead the investigation and set up a command post. 

“We are closely monitoring the situation, and are praying for those impacted,” Governor Murphy said after being briefed. “The public is advised to stay away from the area at this time.”
