According to developing reports, an active shooter has brought a large police presence to a Newark intersection on Tuesday, November 1. Yeshiva World News reporter Moshe Schwartz noted that the shooter is in possession of a rifle and began firing from an elevated position.
Reports indicate that two police officers have been shot, and as of 3:20pm, sources in law enforcement have said that the injuries sustained are not life threatening. The officers were rushed to a nearby hospital and the gunman is still at large.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy tweeted out that he was “aware of and closely monitoring an unfolding situation in Newark. I am in touch with local authorities and the State is providing resources as requested. We will continue to support local law enforcement and ensure that all residents are safe.”
